My Top 5 Artists from The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

Janet Panaker creates art out of Kiln-formed glass

"The artists at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition ooze talent and passion in their work."

Last Friday, I made a point to check out the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition at Nathan Phillips Square. The exhibition featured 340 artists and included art by students at OCAD U, Sheridan College, and the University of Toronto. With rows upon rows of exhibitors to visit, and a few delicious food vendors thrown in for good measure, it was definitely a feast for my senses.

The dilemma was that I only had a couple hours to spare before I headed off to a cottage for the weekend, and my biggest worry was that I wouldn't have enough time to visit each exhibitors' booth while taking in the different pieces on display with the attention to detail I hoped for. Luckily, that was not the case, and I was able to make it to each booth.

From one-of-a-kind jewellery to unique glass sculptures and shockingly detailed hyperrealist pieces, I would say that talent did not fall short for these artists. Their passion and creativity shone through in their art and reinforced my belief that art is most definitely a labour of love.

As much as I'd love to post pictures of the work of all the artists (there were many pieces that I loved), I narrowed down the artists, and their work, to the ones that were my most favourite. In no particular order, these are my picks for the top 5 artists at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition:
